As part of our Social Media Basics series, today's post will focus on how to update your Facebook Cover Image and Profile Image.
Update or Add a Facebook Cover Image:
The Facebook Cover image is the large blue image in the example above. To add or update this image, you will:
- Login to your Facebook account
- Place your cursor over the area where the cover image should be - a prompt will appear "Add a Cover" (if you don't currently have a cover image) or "Change Cover" if you already have an image, but want to change it. Click on this prompt.
- Choose, "Upload Photo". This will enable you to select an image from your computer
- Select the image you want to upload
- Drag the image to reposition, if needed
- Click save - your cover photo should now be in place!
Note that if you are creating a new image to upload, the dimensions recommended for Facebook Cover Images are: 851 pixels wide and 315 tall. The size should be less than 100KB.
Update or Add a Facebook Profile Photo or Logo:
The Facebook Logo or Profile Photo area is located to the bottom left of the cover image. In the image above, it is the box where the CMW Insurance logo appears.
To add or update this photo:1.
- Login to your Facebook account
- Place your cursor over the area where the logo/profile image should be - a prompt will appear "Add Profile Picture" (if you don't currently have a profile image) or "Change Profile Picture" if you already have an image, but want to change it. Click on this prompt.
- Choose, "Upload Photo". This will enable you to select an image from your computer
- Select the image you want to upload
- Drag the image to reposition, if needed
- Click save - your profile photo should now be in place!
Note that if you are creating a new image to upload, the dimensions recommended for Facebook Profile Images are: 180 pixels wide and 180 pixels tall. Below is a diagram noting where your profile image will be displayed vis a vis your cover photo:
