Why am I so excited about this new small business internet marketing program?
I talk to small business owners all the time who are frustrated with all the different information floating around there on social media and online marketing. They should be on Facebook. No, sorry Facebook won't work for you - you have to use LinkedIn for your business. But wait, a salesperson just called me to let me know for $1200 I can get to the top of Google. Do I want that - yes - but I don't sell lawn mowers so I'm not sure why ranking high for that is good for me. But wait, now there's Pinterest - what do I do??
So in a nutshell, I am excited about this program because it takes the guesswork out of online marketing and social media. Small businesses don't have a lot of time, and few of them have a marketing team. Owners are experts in their own field and not Internet marketing gurus (well most aren't).
The program also takes away the mystique of online marketing. It really isn't - and shouldn't be - rocket science. Like marketing in general, one-off tactics won't work. That means you can't just pay someone to get you to the top of Google, you can't just put up a Facebook page and expect raving fans, and PPC advertising alone won't generate all your sales. Like everything else, online marketing has to start with strategy -and it has to be a system. That's where you'll start to see real success, like:
- Consistent inbound leads
- More qualified leads
Even better, you'll be able to stop doing some of the stuff you hate - like cold calling and selling.
How does the new program work?
The new Total Online Presence program will be set-up in the same way as our highly successful Marketing Catalyst program.
